Description and Responsibilities:
The Lead Computer Support Specialist will serve as a team leader within the HQDA client organization, responsible for managing the activities of several technical subordinate employees in a fast-paced and prestigious work environment.
●Leads, directs, coordinates, manages, executes, and integrates a portion of the Information Mission Area (IMA) that encompasses some of the following disciplines: Information Technology (IT) systems interoperability; hardware/software integration to include mainframe, mini/micro-computers, etc.; hardware/software maintenance support; communications/electronic support; video teleconferencing support; necessary user support services; electronic messaging; server support;and systems administration.
●As a team leader, plans, directs, coordinates, and facilitates the activities of several employees engaged in the various functions of the team. Coordinates the activities of the team to assure compliance with published policies and regulations, completion of deadlines, proper execution of functions, and overall efficiency of operations. Makes assignments, reviews work accomplishments as necessary, and renders technical advice and guidance on unusual, controversial or complex problems.
●Evaluates and discusses operating problems and procedures with the client supported customers and recommends improvements and ways to provide greater effectiveness and economy of services. Provides individual counseling and holds planning conferences with top management personnel on new support procedures and innovations. Analyzes processes and procedures in order to recommend improvements.
●Coordinates action/correspondence with every major element whose operations will be affected by the actions/correspondence or who have responsibility for input to the decision involved. Interprets and explainsregulations, policies, and other written directives. Issues special instructions, as required.
●Monitors various contracted services in relation to the support servicesprogram. Develops plans, procedures, methodology and initiates appropriate management actions to effect improvements in information services.
●Participates fully in the development of long- and short-range planning in those areas related to advisory, technical, and administrative services. Evaluates impact on internal and external changers that haveinterrelationships between functions, operations, programs, and affectscosts and resources, and devises and installs measures for improved coordination between subordinate activities and serviced activities.
●Personally, and through various media, advises managers on existing and new or revised services available and their benefits in facilitating work production. Assists Information Management Officer in compiling, reviewing, and justification for overall budget estimates for all Branch expenses making periodic revisions and providing for control of expenditures.
●Performs other duties as assigned.
●At least 7 years of demonstrated experience in Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or Computer Sciences
●A minimum of five years of current experience in Information Technology and/or System Administration
●Possess and maintains an IAT/ IAM Level II security-related certification(s) as an approved DoD 8570 Baseline Certification - Possess a Microsoft Certified IT Professional/Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCITP/MCTS) or their updated equivalent
●Possess a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification
●Demonstrated experience managing, coordinating, and facilitating a team in the administration and management of a DoD information system and infrastructure
●Demonstrated knowledge of system supportability concepts (resource support elements, Reliability, Maintainability and Availability)
●Demonstrated experience implementing project management principles and managing, tracking, and coordinating a wide range of actions, documents, and tasks through completion
●Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Project)
●Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
Required DoD 8570 Level II IT Certifications:
1.Required to have the baseline IAT II or IAM II certification; including A+ and Security+
2.ITIL Foundations Certification
4.Education: Bachelor Degree or higher from an accredited institution in one of the areas: Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Information Systems or Information Technology (additional years of experience may be substituted for Education)
5.Security Clearance: Required to have a Top-Secret U.S. Government security clearance (or higher).
