We are looking for multi-skilled professionals for our Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst position. The GIS Analysts are responsible for discovering patterns and trends through spatial mapping, developing mapping applications and tools and managing a digital library of geographic maps in various file types, among other duties.

GIS analysts will need to explain geographic trends and findings from their analyses to clients, requiring excellent written and verbal communication.

Security Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain U.S. Government security clearance (Secret or above)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing spatial data through the use of mapping software
  • Discovering patterns and trends through spatial mapping of data
  • Designing digital maps with geographic data and other data sources
  • Creating "shapefiles" to merge topographical data with external data by layering external data over a topographical map
  • Producing maps showing the spatial distribution of various kinds of data, including crime statistics and hospital locations
  • Developing mapping applications and tools
  • Converting physical maps into a digital form for computer usage
  • Performing data munging and cleaning to convert data into its desired form
  • Produce reports on geographic data utilizing data visualizations
  • Managing a digital library of geographic maps in various file types

Required Qualifications:

  • GIS Certification
  • BS/BA degree in GIS, geography or related engineering/physical sciences preferred
  • GIS experience required (5 years minimum)
  • Experience using the Esri suite of products including ArcMap, ArcGIS Server Advanced or ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcSDE on Microsoft SQL, Portal/ArcGIS Online, Python scripting required
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS 10.x, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online software to make paper and digital maps and applications, and to input data
  • Experience with data modeling, data conversion and ability to work with survey and georeferenced data required
  • Experience with ArcGIS Navigator, Survey 123, Collector, Workflow Manager, and GeoEvent Server, and GPS units and field data collection processes desirable; Proficient in Microsoft office suite of software
  • Knowledge and experience using GPS equipment
  • Understands geographic data types and geodatabase structure and behavior
  • Ability to research and assemble required information and data from a variety of sources
  • Ability to read and interpret resource maps, survey plans, aerial photographs and planning documents
  • Ability to formulate recommendations for system improvements and refinements
  • Be familiar with Python and writing scripts in Python
  • Have the capacity to understand and interpret geographic data types and geodatabase structure and behavior
